If you're searching for the perfect transeasonal layer for your favourite country walks, the revival of the archived Barbour Spey Wax Jacket is the perfect fit. Crafted to a shorter length from waxed cotton, this modern design features a classic cord collar with the traditional throat flap, finished with two lower jetted pockets and a D-ring to the chest.

Originally launched in 1981, the Spey holds the distinction of being Barbour's debut piece built specifically for anglers. Its shortened length was a practical solution for fly fishermen working in deep water alongside their waders, keeping the hem safely above the surface. Now reimagined for a new era, this version arrives with crisp, structured tailoring, a corduroy-trimmed collar paired with a throat flap, and a handy D-ring fixed to the chest. The Spey has seen countless reinterpretations over the decades, and here it takes a quietly understated turn, finished entirely in black.

  • XS: 30–32"

  • L: 42–44"
  • XL: 46–48"

Jacket Length: Approximately 23" (cropped silhouette, falls just below the waist)

Fit Notes: The Spey has a slightly boxy, oversized yet cropped cut with raglan sleeves (sleeve length is measured from neck to cuff rather than from shoulder). Despite the relaxed silhouette, it tends to run on the smaller side, so sizing up is often recommended if you plan to layer it over heavier knits or shirts.

How to measure your chest: Measure straight across from armpit to armpit on a comparable jacket, or measure around the fullest part of your chest while wearing a light shirt.
